NADRA has opened three new National Registration Centres in Karachi that now work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These new centers are in Malir Cantt, Malir, and Surjani Town. The main goal is to make it easier for people to get their Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) and Family Registration Certificates (FRCs) without waiting too long or standing in long lines.
This move is part of a big upgrade to Pakistan’s national ID system, the largest change since 2002. NADRA wants to make ID services faster, easier, and more reliable for all people. One of the most important changes is the new biometric B-Form for children above three years old. Now, children’s fingerprints will also be part of the system, helping to keep better records for schools, healthcare, and legal needs.
Another major update is to the Family Registration Certificate (FRC). Now, this document can be used in legal matters, such as court cases or inheritance claims. This makes life easier for families who need to prove their family structure for official reasons.
One big change that supports women’s rights is the option for married women to keep their father’s name on their CNICs. Before, they had to use their husband’s name after marriage. Now, women can decide how they want their name to appear. This helps women feel more in control of their identity and legal documents.
NADRA is also making it more convenient for people to use its services. Now, many services are available through a mobile app, so people don’t always need to go to a center. Also, around 1,200 union councils in different cities and towns across Pakistan now offer NADRA services. This means more people can get their CNICs or FRCs close to home.
These new updates show that NADRA is trying hard to modernize Pakistan’s registration system. By using technology and giving more choices to citizens, the government is making things better and easier for everyone. Whether it’s children getting B-Forms, women updating CNICs, or families needing legal papers, NADRA’s new steps are helping people get the services they need without stress.
