Karachi Collapsed Building in Lyari: 27 Dead, Many Injured News

Karachi Building Collapsed: A Sad Day for Lyari

A very sad accident happened in Lyari, Karachi. A big building with five floors suddenly fell down. Many people were living inside. Some were sleeping. Others were getting ready for the day. When the building collapsed, many families were hurt.

This happened early Friday morning, on July 5, 2025. The building was located on Fida Husain Shaikha Road in the Baghdadi area of Lyari. This place is full of people and very busy. Shops, homes, and small buildings are close to each other.

What Happened?

The five-storey building fell down with a loud sound. People nearby heard screams and crashing. Dust and smoke filled the air. People rushed to help.

The building had families living on the top floors. The ground floor had shops. Some children were inside. One baby was just one year old. Sadly, the whole building came crashing down and buried many people under broken walls, bricks, and cement.

Rescue Efforts Begin

As soon as the news spread, rescue teams rushed to the site. Many people were trapped under the rubble. Rescue workers brought machines, cranes, and tools. They also brought life-detecting devices to find people under the rubble.

More than 100 rescue workers helped. Firefighters, police, Edhi workers, Chhipa, and army teams also joined. People from the area helped too. They gave water, food, and helped carry the injured.

Rescue workers worked day and night. They carefully broke walls and used machines to lift heavy blocks. The area was small, so it was hard for big machines to move. But the teams worked with great courage.

The Death and Injury Toll

This tragic accident took the lives of 27 people, including women and children. Some children were as young as 1 and 7 years old. A newly married couple also died.

Many people were hurt. At least 9 people were injured, and some were in serious condition. Doctors at the Civil Hospital and Lyari General Hospital tried to save everyone. Ambulances took people quickly from the site to the hospital.

Some families lost more than one loved one. The entire city is heartbroken. Many people came to the area to help and pray.

Why Did the Building Fall?

This building was not safe. Officials say:

  • It was built without proper approval.
  • The builder did not follow safety rules.
  • The structure was weak, even though it was new.
  • Heavy rainfall in Karachi made things worse. The building developed cracks.
  • People were warned to leave, but came back thinking it was safe.

The building control authority (SBCA) had earlier warned about cracks. People were moved out, but they returned the same day. That night, the building fell.

What Did the Mayor and Officials Say?

Mayor Murtaza Wahab said that hundreds of buildings in Karachi are not safe. He asked for a full list of dangerous buildings. He said the government will help families who lost loved ones and those who lost homes.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah visited the site. He was very upset. He said the building was constructed illegally. He promised action against those who allowed it to be built.

He ordered a full inquiry and said that strict punishment will be given to the builder and those responsible. He also asked the building control authority to make a list of all unsafe buildings in Karachi.

What Will Happen Next?

  • A case has been filed against the builder.
  • The government is planning to demolish other unsafe buildings.
  • Rescue work has now ended after 3 days of hard work.
  • People who lost their homes will be given support.
  • A new plan will be made to check all buildings in the city.

Mayor Wahab said it is very important to stop illegal construction. Builders must follow the rules. If they don’t, people can die.

Why This Is So Important

This accident is very serious. It tells us:

  • Building safety is very important.
  • Builders must follow the law.
  • Rain and poor construction can cause buildings to fall.
  • People must listen to warnings.
  • The government must act fast when a building is unsafe.

People live in dangerous homes because they are poor. The government must help these families. Better houses and rules can save lives.

What Can We Learn?

We must learn from this sad event. Here are the lessons:

✅ Always listen to safety warnings.
✅ Don’t live in buildings with big cracks.
✅ Report any unsafe building to the city office.
✅ Builders must follow rules when making houses.
✅ The government must check buildings often.

Words from the Heart

One mother lost her two kids. One man lost his wife. A father cried because his baby was gone. These are not just numbers. These are real people, real families, real pain.

People in Karachi are very sad. They want justice. They want safer homes. They want no more buildings to fall. They hope the government will act now.

Final Thoughts

This tragic event in Lyari has shocked all of Pakistan. A five-storey building fell, killing 27 innocent people. It happened because someone built it without care. Now, the whole city is mourning.

Let this be a strong message to everyone. Homes must be safe. Lives must be protected. Rules must be followed. The city must not allow more unsafe buildings.

We pray for the victims. We thank the rescue teams. And we hope for a better, safer future for all.
