Internet Services Disrupted Across Pakistan as Users Face Slow Speeds and App Outages

Internet users across Pakistan are facing major slowdowns and outages today, with multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs), including Nayatel and PTCL, confirming wide-ranging connectivity issues. Users from major cities like Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, and beyond have reported slow browsing, buffering videos, and complete loss of access to certain websites and apps. ARY

According to a statement issued by Nayatel’s Technical Assistance Center, the connectivity problems stem from a mix of international routing issues and local service disruptions. One of Nayatel’s upstream internet providers is currently experiencing a fault on eastbound international traffic routes, which has led to unstable speeds and poor global connectivity for Pakistani users.

Adding to the problem, key Microsoft services such as Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive are also down nationwide. Users who rely on these tools for work and school are unable to send emails, join meetings, or access cloud files. This issue appears to be global in nature, with Microsoft facing outages in multiple countries, but Pakistani users are particularly affected because of the already fragile internet conditions.

Additionally, services hosted on Cloudflare infrastructure, which powers thousands of global websites, are either responding slowly or not loading at all. This means popular websites that depend on Cloudflare for security and speed are inaccessible to users across Pakistan.

Nayatel clarified that these are separate but overlapping issues, which is why the problem feels so widespread and confusing. While Nayatel’s own routing problems are one part of the issue, Cloudflare’s infrastructure glitches and Microsoft’s global service disruption have created a multi-layered crisis that affects almost every internet user in the country.

Users of other ISPs like PTCL, StormFiber, and Transworld have also reported similar problems, confirming that this is not limited to any single provider. It’s a nationwide issue affecting home internet, mobile data, and corporate networks.

Technical teams from ISPs and affected service providers are actively working to identify and fix the problems, but as of now, there is no official timeline for when services will return to normal. In the meantime, users are advised to be patient and avoid making major online transactions or updates until services stabilize.

For businesses and students, the timing of this disruption is especially frustrating, as many people depend on online meetings, cloud apps, and real-time collaboration tools for daily work. With Outlook and Microsoft Teams down, many professionals and students are left stranded.

This latest episode has once again exposed how dependent Pakistan’s digital infrastructure is on a few key international gateways and cloud services. Experts are calling for the government and private sector to invest more in internet redundancy and localized infrastructure to avoid such widespread breakdowns in the future.

In conclusion, the internet disruption in Pakistan is due to a combination of international routing faults, global service outages, and cloud platform issues. ISPs are working around the clock to resolve the matter, but until then, users should expect continued slow speeds and limited access to important services. ProPakistani
