Islamabad’s Safe City will get a major upgrade with over 3,000 new security cameras to enhance safety for everyone. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi unveiled the project during a visit to the Safe City headquarters, where he also launched the Women’s Online Police Station and the One Info app.
Introducing the large-scale digital surveillance wall, the minister said that real-time surveillance is essential to combat crime and catch criminals early. He explained that these additional cameras will cover more areas, allowing the police to respond more quickly in case of a problem.
Minister Naqvi also said that the Women’s Online Police Station and the One Info app are important steps in helping women and vulnerable people feel safe and get immediate help. Through this new application, anyone can file an emergency complaint with the police directly from their phone, saving time and speeding up the response.
The Safe City project has already played a significant role in reducing crime in Islamabad and now a similar system will be implemented in Dasu and Chilas.
The minister directed that all Safe City systems be equipped with the latest technology and artificial intelligence and interconnected so that the police can easily share data.
He ordered strict action against illegal money transfers, begging networks and fake medicines to ensure cleanliness of the city and protection of the population. The Safe City project reflects the government’s commitment to building safe and smart cities for all.
